Darlington announces welcome-back activities

A special weekend of activities and programs have been planned to welcome students and parents back to the 2002-03 school year. Parents who have completed their registration online will be able to jump right into the welcome-back activities. Parents who have not completely finished their registration (including returned paperwork) will need to report to the library and will simply go through the same online process that was available to them from home. According to Headmaster David Rhodes, "Our goal is to get students and parents out of lines and into the weekend activities as quickly as possible." The schedule for the weekend is detailed below.

Saturday, Aug. 17
8 - 11 a.m.	Upper School day students, resident student leaders, and new resident students move in and register. Houses
11:15 a.m.	All new resident and new day students (including ALL ninth graders), their parents, and faculty meet. (Returning day students are also welcome.) Morris Chapel
Noon - 1 p.m.	All students, their parents, and faculty are invited to lunch Dodd Dining Room
1 - 3 p.m.	Students and their parents attend mini-classes to meet instructors Various class locations
3:30 - 4:30 p.m.	Parents and students attend individual House meetings
4:30 - 6 p.m.	Enjoy faculty-led activities Lakeside and Huffman Athletic Center
6 p.m.	All students, their parents, and faculty invited to dinner Huffman Athletic Center
7 p.m.	Parents Association hosts dessert for all parents Huffman Athletic Center
7 p.m.	New resident students meet Morris Chapel
Sunday, Aug. 18
8:30 a.m.	New resident students depart for Camp Winshape Upper School
2 - 3 p.m.	Returning resident students register, if necessary Library
4:30 - 5:30 p.m.	Returning resident students meet Morris Chapel
5:30 p.m.	House meetings for all resident students
7 p.m.	Dinner and music mixer for all resident students Zelle Cove
