Cum Laude Society inducts 25

The Darlington Chapter of the Cum Laude Society inducted 25 new members during an installation ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 23 in Morris Chapel.
According to Dean of College Guidance Sam Moss (’63), Chapter president, membership in the Cum Laude Society is the highest academic honor Darlington can bestow upon a group of students. To be eligible for consideration, students must have an A (93) average for all four years, have taken at least eight Honors or AP courses over four years (or two each year), have earned a very high class rank and have demonstrated good character, honor and integrity in all aspects of their school life. Membership is limited to a maximum of 20 percent of each senior class.
Inductees included Kendall Brooks of Rome; Grover Brown of Cartersville, Ga.; Elizabeth Buice of Rome; Anisha Chandra of Dalton, Ga.; Mu-jung Chiu of Taiwan; EunJin Cho of Korea; Sarah Clements of Rome; Claire Davis of Rome; Lucy Izard of Atlanta; Chang-Sup Lee of Korea; Andy Lewis of Rome; Laura Lynch of Rome; Chutimun Napombejara of Thailand; A Nutalaya of Thailand; Sara Pate of Rome; Cole Phillips of Armuchee, Ga.; Jett Wayne Puckett of Rome; Esa Sofian of Rockmart, Ga.; Ali Terrell of Cartersville, Ga.; Baylee Tudor of Lyerly, Ga.; Dane Walsh of Dallas, Ga.; Kate Waters of Rome; Landon Watters of Rome; Ricardo Wu of Taiwan; and Dam-Sil Yoo of Korea.
“This society is a fellowship of scholars whose purpose is to recognize excellence in academic work,” said Moss. “As these students pursue their educations, it is our hope that they will accept the honor of membership in this society as a responsibility to make some contribution to man’s ongoing search for greater understanding of himself and of society.”
