Darlington's crew team participated in the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga Sunday, Nov. 5.

The Men's Youth Novice Four boat placed third amongst 25 boats in their race, and was only 16 seconds away from a first-place finish.

"They also had the opportunity of racing in a brand-new $17,000 boat that had never been on the water before," said coach Clara Hoellerbauer. "They handled it beautifully and returned it without a scratch."

The Women's Youth Novice Four boat placed 16th out of 31 boats in the race.

"Considering that this combination of rowers had never before rowed in a race this season, their 16th place finish is amazing," said Hoellerbauer. "We are very proud of them all for their performance and for the way they represented Darlington at this national event at which both high schools as well as colleges/universities were present."

Berry College's team also competed in the race. Please click here to view the complete results of the event.
