Senior Alex Cox won an individual state championship in the 400 meters, leading the boys' track and field team to a third-place team finish. The conditions were incredibly challenging as it rained all day and there were streams of muddy water on the track; but the boys thrived.

Cox ran a personal record time by over a second with a 48.97. His previous personal best was run at the State Sectional meet; a 50.11. Cox won the 400 meters by almost 2 full seconds a week after defeating the same field of runners at Sectionals by only tenths of a second. Cox also placed 3rd in the 800 meters and 5th in the pole vault.
