Cowboys unit introduces pre-k to Wild West

Pre-kindergarteners were rounded-up to sing Wild West era songs and make badges, vest, belt buckles, and other cowboy gear, and spur their imagination as part of a unit about the Wild West. Pre-k visited the Kingston, Ga. farm of Darlington friend J. L. Todd to culminate the lessons. At the farm, they rode a horse provided by Amy Story, the mother of third-grader Sidney, panned for gold, and learned how to rope a steer by Ashley Hawkin’s father Andrew. Snack and lunch also included a Wild West theme as they enjoyed trail mix and hot dogs prepared on a grill.
