Community prepares for Weihenmayer visit

Pages are turning as the Darlington community prepares for a visit from author Erik Weihenmayer, who wrote Touch the Top of the World. He will speak to the Darlington and Rome communities in September. Weihenmayer is a world-renowned speaker for high schools, colleges, and corporate businesses. He went blind at age 13 and since became the first blind climber in history to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain, Mt. Everest. At the age of 34, Weihenmayer became one of less then 100 individuals to climb all of the Seven Summits (highest peak of each of the seven continents). Weihenmayer will speak to fourth-twelfth graders, faculty, and guests on Thursday, Sept. 25. He is also scheduled to speak to Darlington parents, guests, and the Rome community on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m.

This is made possible through the generosity of an anonymous member of the Darlington Board of Trustees. The individual is funding the engagement and also furnished books to Darlington families and faculty members.
