College Night to feature Olympic gold medallist

This year’s College Night will feature Olympic gold medallist and Rhodes College Dean of Admission David Wottle, who will be joined by several other admission officers to be announced later.
Wottle and his fellow panelists will address issues raised by students and parents, such as how students are evaluated by colleges, the financial aid process, early decision programs, and why admission to so many colleges is becoming more and more competitive.
The college night program on Monday, September 18, at 7 p.m. precedes Darlington’s College Fair the next morning. All seniors and parents of seniors are urged to attend, and underclassmen and their parents are also strongly encouraged to attend.
“All students and parents are invited to attend – but this meeting is a ‘must’ for seniors and their parents,” Associate Headmaster and Dean of College Guidance Sam Moss said. “It is important for seniors to know specifically what they need to be doing in the weeks and months ahead and what Darlington expects of them in the application and visitation process. It is important for underclassmen to know what they need to be doing throughout high school to enhance their college options. In hearing directly from admission officers, seniors and underclassmen alike can gain an understanding of how colleges make admission decisions and what factors count the most in those decisions.”
