Classes travel back in time

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes were treated to a special outing to Possum Trot on the Berry College campus for a day of old-fashioned school and fun. Students did math and reading lessons in the old schoolrooms with slates and chalk and then went on a hay ride. At lunch, students ate chicken and biscuit, apple, and a sugar cookie packed in tin buckets with home-made lemonade from little fruit jars.
As for fun, they played, “drop the clothespin in the bottle”, had sack races, tossed socks of rocks, and played Duck, Duck, Goose. Chapel was held in the old church where Patricia Ayer, Lower School teacher, told a Bible story about David and Janice Cox, Lower School teacher, played the piano as they sang, “Jesus Loves Me,” and, “He’s got the Whole World in His Hands”. “It was great, but we really like air conditioning, computers and our new classrooms at the Lower School,” said Cox.
