Chikezie recognized by National Achievement Scholarship Program

Senior Darlene Chikezie has been named an Outstanding Participant in the 2012 National Achievement Scholarship Program after scoring in the top three percent of more than 160,000 black Americans who took the PSAT.

Chikezie has taken four Honors and AP classes. She is a member of Sociedad Honoraria Nacional de El Coronel, Spanish Club, the Darlington Diamonds dance team, the cheerleading squad, and the track and field team. She has also served as a mentor at the Boys & Girls Club. She is the daughter of Ruby Nnadi of Jonesboro, Ga.

The National Achievement Program, conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corp., was initiated in 1964 to recognize academically promising black students throughout the nation and to provide scholarships to a substantial number of the most outstanding program participants. Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program receive a certificate, and their names are referred to higher education institutions across the country.
