Chicks have impeccable timing –at least chicks at the Lower School. These young birds hatched during Cc week in pre-kindergarten. “What great timing and what better way could there be to learn all about the letter C than by witnessing the miracle of new life with chicks,” pre-kindergarten teacher Beth Smith explained. “Pre-k is a hands-on classroom where we explore all the letters with all kinds of manipulatives. What a treat to explore the letter C for chick with real chicks. We also studied Ff last week (Sept. 28 – Oct. 1) and discussed animals that live on farms, hence the chick eggs in the classroom.” Chris Hall, mother of pre-kindergartener Emmy Hall (and wife of Upper School English instructor Steve Hall ’75), brought an incubator and some eggs to the class.
