Chase Tolbert expands athletic scope

After establishing himself as a successful student and gifted athlete during his first three years of high school at Darlington, it would have been easy for Chase Tolbert to essentially roll through his senior year on cruise control.
But that’s just not Tolbert’s style. Rather than sitting back, the multi-sport star decided to venture outside his comfort zone in order to ensure that his athletic career continued to evolve — and expand — in his final days at Darlington.
This spring, he launched into something completely new when he began competing in the shot put and discus events for the Tigers’ track team. He then immediately put together a successful season, and this weekend, he will represent Darlington at the Class A state sectionals.
