Cards foster friendships

When Dot Womack, Lower School administrative assistant, sent a birthday card to an expectant family, she had no idea that the card would be the baby’s first birthday card. In an effort to cultivate relationships, Womack mails birthday cards to current students as well as anyone who contacts the Lower School requesting admission information. Recently, a prospective family (with an expectant mother) asked to be added to the Lower School mailing list. Making a note of the due date, Womack sent a congratulatory card. When the baby was a little late, the timing of the card coincided with the child’s birth –making the card the baby’s first birthday card. The card has been placed in the infant’s scrapbook. “You wouldn’t believe how many people I run into mention how touched their child was to receive a card,” Assistant Director of Admission Lea Duncan explained. “Dot is so thorough and such a pro at this. Her efforts make a difference at the School. These seemingly small personal touches set us apart. They cultivate relationships which naturally helps the School’s admission and retention efforts.”
