Capitol flag waves over Middle School

Middle School received a special gift on Feb. 22. Congressman Bob Barr, who represents Georgia's Seventh District in the U.S. House of Representatives, presented an American flag that has flown over the capitol to students. He commended their diligence in flying the flag and saying the Pledge of Allegiance each school morning since Sept. 11.
Gary Tillman, father of seventh-grader Hannah, arranged Barr's visit to Middle School. Seventh grade history teacher Chad Warner '94, introduced Barr to students and faculty who gathered around the flag pole for the presentation. Eagle Scouts raised the flag and Barr led the group in saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
Barr is an assistant majority whip, and serves on three committees: judiciary, financial services, and government reform. He is chairman of the judiciary subcommittee on commercial and administration law, and vice chairman of the full government reform committee. Bob served as a member of the Speaker’s Bipartisan Working Group on Youth Violence and is a member of the Republican study committee, the Pro-Life Caucus, the National Guard and Reserve Caucus, and the Congressional Chapter of the Civil Air Patrol.
