Camp named chairman of GMEA division

Will Camp, Darlington’s instrumental director, has been named chairman of the Georgia Music Educators Association District 7 Orchestra Division.
“This is a pretty big deal in District 7 because it is the largest district in the state, and Darlington is the only school – public or private – with an orchestra,” Camp said. “There are many players around the district, but no other school has an organized class devoted to them.”
Camp came to Darlington in August 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in jazz studies from the University of West Georgia, where he was a member of the Honors College and a Wrights Scholar. He also holds a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Georgia State University. Camp has taught privately in his home studio for several years, and has played professionally with the Alabama Symphony Pops, the West Georgia Jazz Ensemble and the West Georgia Saxophone Ensemble.
Darlington School will host the first-ever District 7 Honor Orchestra Clinic this year.
