Business Office says farewell to longtime staffers

Two of the Business Office’s most familiar faces will no longer greet you daily as you come around the corner from the School’s post office. After a combined total of 40 years at Darlington, Emily Stuckey (’75) and Sarah Woodfin have moved on to new endeavors.
For Woodfin, former administrative assistant, that means retirement. “I have worked in the Business Office for 27 years, and my job has never been dull or boring,” she said. “From this experience, I will take with me a lot of good memories.”
Woodfin held various duties in the Business Office over her tenure at Darlington, but was best known by students for dispensing allowance.
“Obviously students liked her because she is their money source, but she was always ready to listen if they were down, or share good news if they had some,” said Stuckey. “She held them accountable and trained them to learn their Social Security number, little life things that they’ll need to know soon.”
After 13 years at Darlington, Stuckey, the School’s controller, accepted a position with R.H. Ledbetter Properties, effective Jan. 12.
“Throughout her time at Darlington, Emily has used her experience as an alumna, a parent and an employee to help make the Business Office more efficient. I appreciate her honesty, loyalty, thoroughness and attention to detail,” said Bob Rogers, chief financial officer.
“The three of us – Sarah, Emily and I – have worked together so long that each often knows what the other is asking before it is asked. We know each other’s strengths and are able to utilize them to move effectively,” he continued. “I will miss their professionalism and willingness to accept new challenges, but I sincerely wish them the best of luck.”
Woodfin was replaced in December by Leslie Morgan Finley (’85), and Stuckey will be replaced in February by Beth Pollard.
