Brown Awards Recognize Faculty and Staff Contributions

Darlington presented seven members of the Darlington faculty and staff with the James Douglas Brown Jr. Faculty Award during the faculty appreciation dinner at the Coosa Country Club May 6.
The Brown awards are given to recognize excellence, not only in the classroom, but also by the example set by faculty members in their everyday dealings with students and other faculty members. In addition to honoring five faculty members, President Jim McCallie presented Brown awards to two staff members for tremendous contributions to Darlington.
The following individuals received a 1999 Brown Award: Lea Duncan, Lower School assistant director of admission; Gloria Eberhart, development office manager; Mark Gibbons, Upper School math and computer instructor and Middle School head football and Upper School junior varsity soccer coach; Bill King, Lower, Middle, and Upper School instrumental music instructor; Diann Kothe, Upper School computer applications, keyboarding, and word processing instructor; Beth Smith, Lower School pre-kindergarten teacher; and Sarah Woodfin, business office assistant.
