The boys varsity golf team is poised to repeat last year’s victory as Region 6-AA champions, while hoping to improve on its seventh place finish in the State championship last year. Returning seniors David Hoyt, Sanders Wallis, Ben Burch, and Drew Davis and junior Patrick McShane are the backbone of this team. They will lead the team into action in March.

One week after returning from break, these five players will go to Elijay to play in the Whitepath Invitational. The boys won the tournament two years in a row (last year in a dramatic playoff), and hopes are high that they will continue their streak.

Several freshmen, Collin Doss, Collin Niblett, Elliott Harrison, Jackson Harris, Mark Dempsey, and Brian Miller, were impressive last year, as well, and are ready to make their mark on the varsity as sophomores. Current freshmen Jeffrey Dodd, Allen Casey, and Nick Pluss have shown early promise and newcomer senior Parrish Owens is working hard to surprise some people. “Look for the schedule on the Web, and come see our boys play,” Coach Raymond Murray said. “They would appreciate the support, and you would get to see some very good golf.”
