Senior Will Bowerman has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for September.

“Will is such a wonderful example of a student who really uses his gifts and his time to make a difference for other people,” said Tara Inman, Bowerman’s college advisor. “I am so proud to see him recognized as Darlington’s Noon Optimist Student of the Month.”

A day student who has been enrolled at Darlington since third grade, Bowerman has taken 16 Honors and AP classes. He is currently enrolled in four AP classes. He is a member of the varsity tennis and swim teams, the band, including the brass ensemble and stadium band, Concert Choir, Random Notes a cappella group, Spanish Club and Chess Club. Bowerman also serves on the Y-Cabinet, Student Activities Committee, Arts Council, Advancement Ambassadors and is a Tiger Tutor.

“He is involved in so many aspects of life at Darlington, but what stands out to me most is his heart for service,” said Inman. “His long-standing work with Extra Special People, his leadership with Blood Assurance, and the way he gives back to our own students as a Tiger Tutor all say a lot about who he is. Will is bright, kind, dependable and genuinely interested in making his community better.”

Bowerman has spent two summers as a summer staffer for Extra Special People (ESP) and has also served as their fall programming intern. Additionally, he serves as a teen social media advocate and board member for Blood Assurance Rome.

The son of Tiffany and Dr. Scott Bowerman of Rome, Will will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Sept. 22.
