Boosters peddle soda, support arts

The Fine Arts Boosters Club is selling Coke products for the second year to raises money to actively support arts programs at Darlington. Club members will be selling cases containing 24 plastic, 20-oz. bottles of Coca-Cola products. Products available for sale are Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, Vanilla Coke, Caffeine-Free Diet Coke, and Minute Maid Lemonade and Orange for $16 per case; Fruitopia for $18 per case; PowerAde and Minute Maid Apple and Orange Juice for $20 per case, and Dasani Water for $15 per case.
Sales continue until Sept. 19. Orders may be given to Ann Glass, Lower School librarian; Diane Ogletree, Middle School secretary; and Claudia Floyd, postmistress, in the Upper School post office. Order forms are available in the School Store. Orders can be picked up at the Old Gym on the Upper School campus on Thursday, Sept. 25 and Friday, Sept. 26.
The funds raised support numerous projects at all three schools. In the Fine Arts Booster Club has purchased equipment ranging from steel drums, microphones, Scholar Bowl equipment, and digital cameras, performance clothing for all the choirs, and costumes for the Darlington Players.
The club also uses the funds to recognize student and faculty accomplishments with everything from trophies and receptions, to framing and preserving award-winning art, to bags of “Hugs and Kisses” for students. It provides transportation and volunteer assistance for trips, both local and overnight, and promotes involvement and attendance at arts events through its newsletter.
