A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Skai Albury, a three-year boarding student from The Bahamas whose Senior Ventures project, the W.A.Y.S. project ("Why Aren't You Smiling"), aims to spread kindness and service throughout the community.

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Larry stands out because he genuinely cares about me as a player. He’s not just focused on winning games, but also on helping me develop my skills, confidence, and character. His commitment to the team and genuine concern for my well-being make him an exceptional coach and mentor.

The dorms because I enjoy the moments I get to spend with my friends

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Ms. Shores, Ms. West, Mr. Pender, and Mr. Leezer truly stand out because they genuinely demonstrated that they care for me as an individual and as a student. They go beyond just teaching, taking the time to understand and support you, making sure you feel valued and appreciated in every aspect of your life. Their dedication and kindness create a nurturing environment where you can thrive and grow.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
Meeting new people at Darlington has been incredible because I’ve made so many new friends from different countries, even discovering some friends from The Bahamas I hadn’t met before. It’s amazing how this experience has broadened my horizons and brought so many wonderful connections into my life.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Senior Ventures has definitely been something special at Darlington, and I’m really grateful that I got to be part of such an amazing program. It's given me the chance to grow, learn, and make a positive impact on the community. Being involved in this program has truly been a highlight of my senior year, and I'm thankful for all the experiences and opportunities it has provided.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I've been in boarding school for five years, and in that time, I’ve gone from being a shy eighth-grader to an outgoing, independent senior. This journey has made me excited to keep growing and learning more about myself. I can't wait to see what new experiences and opportunities lie ahead.
