In this #SeniorSpotlight, get to know Roy Berglund, a two-and-a-half-year boarding student from Turku, Finland, who serves as head prefect of Moser House and plays for the Soccer Academy.
When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Friends, community, academy
What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“The Mandalorian”
What house are you a member of?
Moser House
What are you involved in at Darlington?
Soccer Academy, head prefect of Moser House, representative of Student Council
If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Noah and Coach Andy because I am involved with them around the year. They are young, so they have become friends on top of coaches.
What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The dorms. It's home here, and it has the people I am most involved with.
Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Chandler Cryer. She was an amazing teacher to have when first coming here and an amazing advisor as well. She has high energy towards teaching and genuinely wants you to learn.
What's your favorite thing about Darlington?
The diversity and multiple nationalities. I've grown up around an environment like that and it is great to experience that at Darlington as well.
Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Winning RUMPUS, the annual big competition between the houses. There’s great energy and everyone is really collaborating together. Winning it was an icing on the cake.
What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I have become more independent and mature, really taking big steps towards my future.
Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
I want to continue my academic journey in America because of the many great opportunities it has for me. Owning my own company, which would mix tech and business, would be intriguing.
