In this #SeniorSpotlight, get to know Nadejda Spasova, a two-year boarding student from Sofia, Bulgaria, whose short film, "The Red Thread," won first place in the high school category of the 2020 Rome International Film Festival's student film competition.

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Swim, soccer, residential leader in Regester House, Writing Center tutor, BSU, Concert Choir, debate, cinema
If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Shorey because he taught me not only how to play soccer when I didn’t even know how to kick the ball, but to believe in myself, since he always believed in me.
Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Allen because his class is always fun even when we're learning something serious. He is extremely understanding and caring, and he respects all of his students.
What's your favorite thing about Darlington?
Forces you to get out of your comfort zone in the best way possible.
Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Getting to know people from so many different countries and experiencing a part of their culture.
What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I've become way more independent, self-aware, confident, and overall happier.
Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
I don't know where and what I want to study yet, but one day I want to be a filmmaker.
