Boarding #SeniorSpotlight: Moa Berglund

Let’s get to know Moa Berglund, a three-year boarding student from Turku, Finland, who serves as stage manager for The Darlington Players’ theater productions.                    

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?    
Wisdom, Service, Honor

What song reminds you of high school? 
"Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds

What's your favorite show to binge watch?     
“Criminal Minds” or anything “Star Wars”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?     
Blue Fin

What house are you a member of?     
Regester    

What are you involved in? 
Stage manager for The Darlington Players, dorm leader and house manager for Regester, president of Gay-Straight Alliance, member of Concert Choir, Darlingtones female a cappella group, Arts Council, Spanish Club, Green Team, Sowing Seeds 4 U, Varsity Library, and TOME Literary Club        

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
Theater is my favorite activity because it allows me to express myself in ways that feel both creative and collaborative. There’s something incredibly rewarding about being part of the process behind the scenes, making sure everything runs smoothly, and seeing all the hard work come together. The guidance and encouragement from Ms. Daniel has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and has made the entire experience even more satisfying.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?    
My favorite place on campus is the choir room because it offers a peaceful environment where I can study during my free period, all while being surrounded by my friends who share a love for music. It's a space that blends productivity and fun, making it the perfect place to relax.    

Who's your favorite teacher and why? 
Mr. Kinney and Mrs. Johnson are both deeply passionate about the subjects they teach, which makes it easy to enjoy their classes. Their enthusiasm for zoology and choir, respectively, is contagious. Through their guidance, I've developed a surprising interest in birding and singing, and their dedication has had a lasting impact on my academic and personal growth.            

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?    
My favorite thing about Darlington is the diverse, international community that brings together people from across the globe. The small smiles in the hallway and the kindness of everyone here has created an atmosphere where I truly feel welcomed and connected.    

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.     
Living in the dorms has been an incredible experience, allowing me to connect with people from all over the world. I've learned so much about different cultures and traditions, and it’s been amazing to share stories, try new foods, and celebrate diverse events together.    

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?    
I've definitely stepped out of my comfort zone a lot. Stage managing a theater production has helped me learn how to juggle a million things at once, stay organized, and deal with unexpected challenges, all while keeping my cool. It wasn’t easy, but it pushed me to be more confident, decisive, and comfortable in high-stakes situations.

What is your dream job?
Psychologist!
