“Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and Lasso’s “O Occhi Manza Mia,”—these are samples of the wide range of music the Blue Mountain College Chorale will perform during a spring concert at the Upper School Chapel service, April 11. Larry Newell, the director of choral activities and voice at Blue Mountain College in Mississippi, is on spring tour with his 46-member chorus and is including Darlington School in the tour schedule.

Newell’s chorale has been performing 15-20 concerts annually since he became director in 2000, and has brought chorales from two other schools to perform at Darlington in previous years. The Blue Mountain College chorale is also the official chorus for the Tupelo Ballet Company’s annual production of the Nutcracker, and has performed with the Corinth Symphony Orchestra in 2000 and 2003, and the Germantown Symphony Orchestra in 2002.
