Blood drive to honor students

Darlington School will host a Blood Assurance blood drive on Wednesday, April 18, in honor of current students and cancer survivors Madeline Gaffney ('13) and Jordan Muschamp ('13).
“It is always so meaningful when an event such as this one is held in honor of our own,” said Reba Barnes, director of servant leadership. “As a school community, we want to support them not only with kind words and gestures, but also through events such as this one that raise awareness.”
The Blood Assurance Blood Vessel will be at the McCallie-Kennedy Library steps that day from 2 to 7 p.m. for anyone who would like to participate.
In 2009, Gaffney was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia and Muschamp was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Now, they are both in remission.
Those wishing to give blood must be 16 years or older; 16-year-olds must have written consent from a parent or guardian.
