Blair Holcombe: What RUMPUS Means to Me

Freshman year, I was told about a huge weekend full of competitions between houses known as RUMPUS. I only attended two events that seemed to be fun, and everyone appeared to be having a good time.
Sophomore year, I decided to spend the night in Thornwood House one night during RUMPUS. My friends and I ended up sleeping on the floor outside the bathroom. However, we made some very unlikely friends. We stayed up talking to our new dorm student friends for several hours. It was very unlikely, but RUMPUS brought us together.
RUMPUS is a time to make friends with people you might not normally talk to or hang out with. It brings a house together as each house cheers on its students in an event. It helps unify the dorm students with the day students. The day students become very involved in the house during that weekend.
RUMPUS is a time to dress up, scream, and go crazy for your house. It is a very unique weekend for students. To me, RUMPUS is a time to be with friends both new and old as each house competes for the ultimate bragging rights…RUMPUS Champion.
