Senior Page Thomas earned the Noon Optimist Student of the Month award for January. Senior Kelli Hutchinson merited the Student of the Month distinction for February.
While George Awsumb, fine arts department chair and Upper School faculty, is on a medical leave, many faculty are stepping up to take on his duties: Dan Bishop, choral director, is the interim fine arts department chair, Tom Sorci, learning center director, is currently teaching humanities courses, and Craig Schmidt, history department chair, is adviser for the scholar bowl.
Jim Linos, Upper School Spanish faculty, has been named Who’s Who Among American Teachers by one of his former students from Beloit Catholic High School, Beloit, Wis. This is the second time Linos has been named a distinguished educator and honored as one who “makes a difference” in the life of a student.
