Senior Kellen Spivey earned the Noon Optimist Student of the Month award for November. Headmaster David Rhodes and Sam Moss, dean of studies and college guidance, nominate students for this award as part of an ongoing effort to acknowledge outstanding seniors throughout the academic year.
Senior Clara Smith was named student of the month by the Exchange Club of Rome during a luncheon, Friday, Nov. 17. The Exchange Club recognizes outstanding students in the community who have exhibited excellence in academics and leadership.
Betsy Awsumb, Upper School faculty, received recognition and the distinguished service award, by the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) for 25 years of commitment in independent school education. The award was presented during a banquet at the Brookstone School, Columbus, Ga., on Nov. 5. Awsumb teaches ESL (English as a Second Language) I, II, and III and World Cultures and is faculty adviser to the International Club and Amnesty International.
