• While studying weather and wind patterns, Middle School science instructor Leah Pels’ sixth-graders made kites. They were able to study wind currents firsthand as they flew their creations on a blustery spring day.
• Eighth-graders Will Watters, Alex Gonzalez, and Joseph Muller were presented the highest honor bestowed in the Boy Scouts of America, the Eagle Scout Award, during a ceremony at Rome’s First United Methodist Church this spring.
• The Middle School Chorus and Middle School Band will combine efforts to present a concert of varied musical selections on Tuesday, May 16, at 7 p.m., in the Wilder Center of the First United Methodist Church, 202 E. 3rd Ave., in downtown Rome.
• Matt Gelfand, seventh-grade history teacher and class adviser, has left Darlington to pursue a career in business, effective March 31. Former Lower School principal and history teacher Larry Muschamp is teaching his history classes for the remainder of the academic year.
