Barnes House boys enjoyed special breakfasts prepared each morning by Reba Barnes, head of house. “My prefects asked me to continue the tradition,” she said. “My mom even came mid-week to help me,” Barnes said.

From 7-7:45 a.m. each morning of exam week, the boys enjoyed hearty breakfasts to start their day off right. Little Smokies in a blanket and scrambled cheese eggs, waffles and sausage links, biscuits and chicken gravy, sausage biscuits and scrambled eggs, and sausage and egg casserole with cinnamon rolls, not to mention spaghetti dinner and hot dogs and Coke floats the weekend before exams—is it any wonder that Mama Barnes’ boys finish the School year a little heavier than they started?
