Baker named Exchange Club Youth of the Month

Senior Brennan Baker has been named Exchange Club Youth of the Month for February. Baker, who is ranked No. 13 in his class of 125, has a GPA of 99.03 and has earned 9 honors and 6 AP credits.
While at Darlington, Baker has earned Excellence Awards in Honors Geometry, Civics/Economics, Honors Biology and Chemistry; the Academic Honors Award; the Presbyterian College Junior Fellow Award; and is a three-time recipient of the Citizenship Award. He has been named to the Headmaster’s List and is a member of the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, the National Society of High School Scholars, IMPACT Club, Spanish Club and Science Club. In athletics, Baker has played varsity baseball and varsity cross country. In the community, he has served on High School Leadership Rome, volunteered with the YMCA, and helped coordinate the local March of Dimes Walk.
“Brennan will succeed at anything he wants to because of his work ethic,” said Joseph Pieroni, junior varsity baseball coach. “When Brennan had an arm injury that kept him from playing the entire season, not only did he make practice every day, but he also pushed others to work harder and improve their game. He wasn’t selfish, and even though it hurt him to see others playing while he could only watch, he made contributions to the team.”
“I trust Brennan as a son, and have the utmost respect for him and his family,” said Gus Bell, associate dean of students.
Baker was honored Friday, Feb. 17 by the Exchange Club. He is the son of Phillip and Patricia Baker of Rome, Ga.
