Junior Daniel Gay will play with the Mississippi Symphony in a concert, Saturday, Oct. 1. Gay was honored by being one of two piano soloists chosen for the “Carnival of the Animals” by Saint Seans. A new resident student, Gay sings in Darlington’s Concert Choir and accompanied the Choir on a selection at its first concert in October.
Junior Philip Floyd scored a 93.5, the highest score posted by any seventh district saxophonist, at the district level audition of the Georgia Music Educator’s All-State Jazz Band, Monday, Oct. 16 at Rome High School. Floyd will audition at the statewide competition in Valdosta, Dec. 9. Floyd is the first Darlington student to achieve this honor.
Upper and Middle schools Choral Director Dan Bishop was the guest conductor for the Georgia Music Educator’s Seventh District Honor Chorus in October. Bishop was chosen to direct the high school mixed choir that performed at the Woodland School in Cartersville, Ga., Thursday, Oct. 19.
