The Fine Arts Boosters Club raises money that goes to the active support of arts programs at Darlington. In previous years, the club has received money from dues, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. However, this year the club has come up with a new and exciting way to raise money.

Club members will be selling cases containing 24 plastic, 20-oz. bottles of Coca-Cola products. Products available for sale are Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, Vanilla coke, Caffeine-Free Diet Coke, and Minute Maid Lemonade and Orange for $16 per case; Fruitopia for $18 per case; PowerAde and Minute Maid Apple and Orange Juice for $20 per case, and Dasani Water for $15 per case.

Sales will begin at the spring play, "The Pajama Game," Feb. 7, 8, and 9, and continue until Feb. 28. Orders may be given to Ann Glass, Lower School librarian; Diane Ogletree, Middle School secretary; and Claudia Floyd, postmistress, in the Upper School post office. Order forms are available in the School Store and in each department may also be mailed to Darlington School to the attention of Claudia Floyd, 1014 Cave Spring Road, Rome, GA 30161. The cases will be delivered the week after Spring Break.

This money will support a number of projects for students and faculty. In the past, the club has purchased equipment ranging from steel drums, microphones, Scholar Bowl equipment, and digital cameras, to items needed for "The King and I" drama play. It has also provided performance clothing for all of the choirs as well as costumes for play productions.

The club recognizes student and faculty accomplishments with everything from trophies and receptions, to framing and preserving award-winning art, to bags of “Hugs and Kisses” for students. It provides transportation and volunteer assistance for trips, both local and overnight, and promotes involvement and attendance at arts events through its newsletter.

“We’re testing the waters this year with this fundraising project,” Shelly Peller, Fine Arts Booster Club chair, said. “We hope it will be so successful that we sell Coke products annually.
