Applying for the HOPE Scholarship

Georgia's HOPE Scholarship is available to Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement. The scholarship provides money to assist students with their educational costs of attending college in Georgia.
For eligibility requirements or to apply, visit to www.GACollege411.org and click the "HOPE Info" link found in the gold box on the lefthand side of the page. On the next page, click the "Applying" link found in the green box on the left. Then, click the links for either "Public Colleges and Universities" or "Private Colleges and Universities" to apply electronically or to print an application.
As early as January of the student's senior year, he or she should submit the Georgia HOPE Scholarship application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once that is done, certain eligiblity checks will be completed by the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) or FAFSA. In June, the student's high school should submit final academic transcripts to the colleges he or she has applied to. The colleges will then verify final eligibility. As early as 15 days prior to the first day of classes each term. GSFC will be invoiced for HOPE funds. Then, two business days after the invoice is received, HOPE funds are distributed to the college.
