Annual Fund supports campus improvements

Thanks to money raised by the 2003-04 E.V. “Doc” Regester Annual Fund campaign, Darlington was able to purchase approximately 80 new computers for the Upper, Middle and Lower Schools, according to Stefan Eady, director of information technology.
“Technology at Darlington has been embraced by our faculty, students and parents, making it an integral part of today’s Darlington education,” said Eady. “It’s important to make sure the hardware infrastructure of the School stays up-to-date and reliable, ready to support the next wave of innovations.”
Annual Fund monies assisted in expanding the campus network to include all faculty residents, and hardware upgrades increased the network speed by nearly 10 times, while at the same time, growing support for wireless communication. A new Internet server was also put into place to support increased usage and reliability demands.
Computers aren’t the only technology-related improvements resulting from the monies raised during last year’s Annual Fund campaign. Darlington School was able to purchase a DVD/CD duplicator unit, projectors and chemistry software that will facilitate automated data collection.
Funds were also used to support continuing education for faculty and staff members and to enhance the landscaping at the science pond area.
