Darlington School is pleased to announce that the 2004-2005 Annual Fund: Dedicated to Darlington’s 100th Class eclipsed the $1 million mark Monday, Dec. 13, at 10:15 a.m., thanks to a $200 gift from a member of the Class of 1945. This is the first time in the history of the School that the Annual Fund has reached $1 million before Dec. 31.

“This historic achievement is an early victory for Darlington, as we prepare for the celebration of the Centennial, the appointment of the School’s seventh president and the next 100 years,” said Joe Montgomery, vice president for institutional advancement.

Answering Annual Fund Chairman Clint Hubbard’s (’82) call, alumni, faculty, parents, grandparents and friends have rallied to support the School and helped the Annual Fund reach 76 percent of this year’s goal of $1.325 million.

“Although this time of year is busy for everyone, I have found that this has not hindered folks from taking part in this year’s campaign,” said Hubbard. “I thank everyone who has contributed thus far and thank in advance those who plan to make a gift to Darlington in the near future.”

The Office of Advancement would like to thank all of the dedicated volunteers who have worked so hard to help reach this very important milestone.

“It has been a pleasure to work with this year’s volunteers, who truly love Darlington,” said Pam Morgan, major gifts officer. “I have seen a great deal of dedication to the School, which is reflected in these terrific results.”

With less than $325,000 left to raise, Annual Fund Gifts Officer Molly Gannaway is confident that Darlington will reach and surpass this year’s goal.

“I am proud of the Darlington community for stepping up to the $1-million challenge, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in the new year,” she said. “We are certain to score another victory if we keep up this momentum in 2005.”

Since its inception in 1968, Darlington School’s Annual Fund program has appealed to members of its extended family to make an investment in the School’s students and faculty with gifts to the annual campaign. Donations to the Annual Fund provide for: innovative and challenging academic, athletic and arts programs; increased leadership opportunities for students; recruitment of highly talented faculty; student scholarships; small class sizes designed to give teachers the opportunity to provide individual attention; and much more.
