Annual Fund Nets with Strong Results

With an annual fund close of $1,312,714 in cash gifts from approximately 3,000 donors, Darlington experienced another record year of giving. The school will benefit educationally, athletically, technologically and structurally from this endeavor, led by Jack Harris ’71, national annual fund chairman. “The annual fund is one of the first and best places for someone to get involved with the school,” Harris said. “There are numerous leadership opportunities in the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools with support from the development office. New volunteers continue to grow our efforts. Thank you to all that have joined us this year in our fundraising efforts.”
The following volunteers gave countless hours: Board of Trustees: Quill Healy ’56, development committee chairman, and Chairman of the Board John Thatcher ’44; Board of Visitors representative Steven Winkler ’72; Barry ’70 and Jacqueline Wright, day parent chairpersons; Wright ’70 and Elaine Smith ’71T, ninth – twelfth grade; Becky Kellerman, sixth – eighth grade; Dan ’76 and Jill Pate, third – sixth grade; Deborah Martin, kindergarten – second grade; Steve Walsh, resident parent; Billy Kelly ’71, alumni division; Dennis Nichols ’71, Atlanta major gifts; Bonnie Grizzard ’77 and Buster Wright ’69, Rome major gifts; Rome Phonathon, Jim Talley ’82, Rome Phonathon; Ron Mixon Jr. ’88, Atlanta Phonathon; Tom Selman ’47, grandparents; and David Powell, faculty and staff chairman.
