With a goal of $1,464,000, the 1999 - 2000 Annual Fund, a major contributor to Darlington’s overall operating budget, currently stands at $1,121,792 in cash and pledges.

“Although this is approximately $100,000 ahead of this time last year, with a June 30 deadline, there is still some work to be done,” Director of Annual Support Sally Bugg said. Bugg and National Annual Fund Chairman Jack Harris encourage anyone that has not made a gift to do so now before the June 30 deadline. Contributions to the Annual Fund include gifts from current seniors, alumni, faculty, parents, grandparents, and friends of the school.

A special giving program for seniors was implemented beginning with the class of 1999. Seniors are asked to give from $5 to $25 to the Annual Fund. “This gift, which is recorded as a five-year gift, serves as a reminder to students of the value of their education at Darlington as well as a ‘thank you’ to special teachers and staff,” Bugg said. “The gift to the Annual Fund is also their first act as alumni.” As of April 17, 85 percent of the class of 2000 has given a total of $1,024 to the Annual Fund.
