Alumni Weekend: If You Build it, They Will Come
By Vicki (Slauson) Vincent - FF/S
Someone said, “If you build it, they will come.” Well, we’ve built a fantastic weekend full of events and now all we need is for YOU to come join us!
Alumni Weekend is scheduled for Oct. 7-9, beginning with the Darlington Celebration where we will honor Gordon A. Smith ’71 with our Distinguished Alumnus Award. On Friday afternoon, join us at the Middle School Courtyard for our Fall for the Arts Festival, featuring the talents of our students from all three divisions. That evening, we will host a Pre-Game Picnic on the Chapel Lawn, followed by our Homecoming game against Mt. Zion. Come out and watch the Tigers play!
Saturday is filled with some really exciting activities, beginning in the morning with the “Run with PRIDE” 5K and Fun Run, sponsored by Tiger PRIDE (Darlington's parent organization). We’ll be having a cookout on the Chapel Lawn for lunch, followed by campus tours. Saturday evening, Headmaster Tom Whitworth will open the Home-on-the-Hill for our all-alumni Cocktail Party. Reunion classes will be hosting class parties later in the evening. We are even offering babysitting at the Middle School for alumni children (contact krice@darlingtonschool.org for more information).
Sunday morning, join us for the Service of Remembrance at Morris Chapel. This moving service remembers all those alumni and faculty members who have passed away this year. The J. Daniel Hanks ’27 Heritage Society will host lunch following the service.
As you can see, there is something for everyone, so make plans now to join us. Registration and details about other events are available at www.darlingtonschool.org/alumniweekend. Don’t delay, register today. Hope to see you October 7-9!
