Alumni Challenge Pool increases each new gift to E.V. "Doc" Regester 2003-04 Annual Fund by $100, pushes Alumni Division closer to goal

The goals for the 2003-04 Alumni Division of the Annual Fund are 30% participation and $559,000. In order to promote alumni participation and let new alumni donors get more bang for their buck, the Annual Fund Board and Alumni Chair Dr. Malcolm N. Luxenberg ’53 decided during the Jan. 7, 2004 board meeting to create the 2003-04 Alumni Challenge.
The first phase of the Alumni Challenge was to raise $25,000 for an Alumni Challenge Pool. The Alumni Challenge Pool was completed on Feb. 13, 2004 after the following 15 alumni committed a total of $26,560 to the Alumni Challenge Pool: Mark M. Arnold ’72, Robert Bridges ’63, William D. M. Elfrink ’39, John K. Gilliland Jr. ’78, Jefferson D. Godard Jr ’58, Robert L. Harbin ’67, Catherine S. and John M. Harrison ’70T, ’70, Jack L. McGinnis ’68, Ronnie Shaw Mixon Jr. ’88, Daniel D. Pate ’76, W. Watt Neal Jr. ’63, J. Morgan Siegler III ’95, Joseph Taylor Stukes ’44, and John D. Turbidy ’45.
The second phase of the Alumni Challenge is to claim the Alumni Challenge Pool through first-time and first-time-in-a-long-time gifts from alumni. In order for the School to realize the benefit of the $26,560 pool, the Alumni Challenge Pool will automatically increase every new alumni donor gift by $100, up to a total of 265 gifts or $26,500. Alumni volunteers, class agents, and current students will be spreading the news of this unique opportunity for alumni to increase their gifts by $100 through phonathons and emails.
To make a gift and claim $100 of the Alumni Challenge Pool, alumni can log onto https://www.darlingtonschool.org/development/gift.asp or send a check to Darlington School, Annual Fund, 1014 Cave Spring Road, Rome, Georgia, 30161 before June 1, 2004.
