Adopt-A-School: Helping to Keep Our Community Safe

What comes to mind when you see a police car? What would happen if you saw a police car and an officer walking the Darlington campus? Would you ask yourself, who’s in trouble? Would you think the worst? Well in the words of Lee Corso, “Not so fast my friends!” There is a wonderful new partnership brewing between Darlington School and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department.
Darlington will be participating in the new Adopt-A-School program, developed by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. This program will assign two sheriff’s deputies to our campus. Still in the developmental stages, the premise of this program is twofold: 1) To create more presence on school campuses in the greater Rome community and 2) to build positive relationships between students and law enforcement. Our Floyd County sheriff's deputies will stop by sporadically during the week to simply visit or have lunch.
This additional layer of security will only strengthen the environment in which we live, learn, teach and play. I look forward to introducing the two deputies to the Darlington Community soon. More details will be passed along once they have been received.
