The Darlington Players presented “Actin’ Out,” a collection of various monologues, scenes and musical numbers, Tuesday, March 29 at 8 p.m. in Zelle Drama Room. The performance was dedicated in memory of the lives of Clay McKemie and Sean Wilkinson, who were both members of the group.

Directed by senior Brandon Goodman, president of The Darlington Players Club, “Actin’ Out” featured performances by 21 students. Although admission was not charged, donations were accepted. A portion of the funds raised by this event will go toward the endowment of the McKemie-Wilkinson Passion Award.

According to Goodman, this annual award will be presented to a freshman cast member that is not a lead, but rather an ensemble member who shows extreme commitment to the program and to the shows in which he or she has been involved.

“Brandon and I felt so strongly that if there was an award for freshmen already established, Clay and Sean would most definitely be nominated and in the running for it. So we thought it fitting to name this award in their memory,” said senior Lauren Bowling, vice president of The Darlington Players. “Each day, they came into practice so eager and willing to just be a part of the production. They both had ensemble parts and few lines, if any; yet they wanted the show to be the best it could be.”

Goodman added that both boys always gave 110 percent. “It didn’t matter how big their parts were – they treated them as though they were a lead roles, and anyone who saw the show will tell you that they truly shined in each performance,” he said.

“We hope that this award will recognize the extreme commitment these two young men had to our club,” said Bowling, “in addition to letting freshmen ensemble members know that they are special and their hard work and commitment does not go unnoticed.”

The cast list of “Actin’ Out” included John Kagley, Betsy Goldin, Katherine Eid, Caitlin Rivet, Ben Pate, Lauren Nethery, Andrew Smith, Logan O’Riely, Ashley Udell, Tiffany Dempsey, Meredith Hom, Ashley Adams, Timmy Pakron, Caroline Holbrook, Nick Lewis, Quincy Price, Caitlin Murray, Jay McDavid, Jody Milford, Goodman and Bowling. Additional funds raised by this event will go to The Darlington Players Club.
