Actin’ Out raises money for Katrina victims

The Darlington Players presented Actin’ Out, a collection of various monologues, scenes and musical numbers, Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Zelle Drama Room.
The show featured a number of students performing short monologues, readings, scenes and music. Although admission was not charged, donations were accepted. The $850 that was raised was donated to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief.
“Because the area of the country affected by Katrina is so rich in literature, drama and music, The Darlington Players could not think of a better way to encourage people to donate to this cause than by celebrating the arts and the soul of the Gulf region,” said Morgan McCrary, drama teacher. “Actin’ Out featured works by such Southern icons as Tennessee Williams and Otis Redding.”
