Accelerated Reading Program

Eighteen students at the Lower School earned at least 100 points in the accelerated reading program this year. Students who participate in the program choose and read books that are at least on grade level or above and earn points for doing so after testing for comprehension.
“This is beyond the required reading assignments and reflects great initiative and self-discipline,” said Ann Glass, Lower School librarian. “We even had two students, Kevyn Bowling and Will Tucker, earn over 200 points.”
Students who earned 100 points or more were rewarded with a trophy and were treated to lunch by Principal Larry Muschamp. Students earning this distinction are: fifth-graders Elizabeth Alber, Mary Katherine Ashmore, Clark Coleman McGehee, Anna Orr, Lace Pollard, Blakeney Spong, Elizabeth Sturdivant, Will Tucker, and Katie Zink; fourth-graders Kevyn Bowling, Alex Glass, Caitlin Murray, Sabrina Suttles, and Alicia Wright; third-grader Claire Davis; and second-graders Anisha Chandra, Esha Chandra, and Colton Palmer.
