A note from the Binns Family

Dear friends at Darlington School:
One of the memories we hold close to our hearts is one of a little girl squatting down next to a clump of wildflowers saying, "Mommy, come look at these. Can I pick them?" We can't begin the count the many "weed" bouquets mommy received over the years, some complete with roots!!!
Thank you for the lovely flowers in remembrance of Erika.
Erika loved Darlington - after all, where else could you go and see ALL of your friends at the same time and in the same place! Erika always got excited when August rolled around even though the academics did get in the way sometimes. Erika and her sister, Katie, were fortunate to attend Darlington from pre-K forward. At Darlington, they found challenging academics, life-long friends and teachers they respected.
Most of our memories include Darlington. Best friends, first boyfriends, later boyfriends ... trips, field days, birthdays, first kiss (on the Lower School playground, I think), science projects, sports, new ideas, controversy, neat families and parties and dances - all the great stuff that changed our baby girls into young women took place in and around Darlington School.
Even though we will not celebrate the Class of 2007 crossing the stage to receive their diplomas as we had hoped, our gratitude for the years we enjoyed is immeasurable. And as we struggle with the loss of such a precious daughter and friend, I am comforted knowing that so many of you loved her even though Erika could exasperate a saint sometimes. A perfect student, she was not! But sometimes, it is the mischievous ones we remember the most. Erika had a big heart, a big smile and loved an adventure. We are so sorry we won't be there for the senior prank ... our lips are sealed!
There aren't enough words to express our gratitude to everyone who helped with Erika's memorial services. The care you took in making the service perfect for Erika will always be remembered. God bless you all and thanks for the memories.
