The Darlington Choirs have joined forces with the volleyball team, the Fine Arts Boosters' Club, the Athletic Boosters' Club and the Parents' Association to raise funds to create an award in memory of Hannah Tillman and Anna Kipp.
"If the money can be raised, this award will be given annually to a junior who is an active participant and contributor in both the arts and athletics," said Linda Hom, president of the Fine Arts Booster Club. "Current plans call for the award to be presented for the first time next fall to a member of the Class of 2007 at the first home volleyball game. It will then be awarded annually at Honors Day."
To start the fund-raising efforts, the Choirs will present a concert Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Morris Chapel. Performing groups will include the Middle School Chorus, the Random Notes, the Muses and Concert Choir Seniors.
"The Random Notes and the Muses will present new selections chosen especially for this concert," said Hom. "Our seniors will present solos and duets as part of their senior show."
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. All proceeds will go toward the establishment of an award in memory of Tillman and Kipp.
