4 named to All-Area Tennis Team

Four members of Darlington's varsity tennis teams have earned Rome News-Tribune All-Area honors.
After advancing to the Class A Private School State Semifinals before falling 3-2 to eventual champion Whitefield Academy, the Lady Tigers saw three players named All-Area. Sara Cait Hubbard ('14), Emily Thurmond ('14) and rising junior Milan Rane all played key roles for the Lady Tigers, who had to go on the road for all three of their state playoff matches. Darlington upended Athens Academy and then Brookstone to reach the semifinals.
For the boys, rising senior Jack Tunnell was the lone Darlington Tiger named All-Area. He played number three singles for the Tigers and improved throughout the season. Additionally, he won four out of his last five matches, including a victory in the Region Tournament.
