100th Night Celebration to honor Centennial Class

In the spirit of the Centennial, Darlington is hosting a 100th Night Celebration to honor the Class of 2005 on Thursday, Feb. 3, 100 nights before commencement.
“Darlington’s Centennial celebrates 100 years of learning, 100 years of dedicated faculty and 100 years of wonderful students,” said Christa Cline Jackson (’73T), chairperson of the Centennial Special Events Committee. “The Centennial Committee plans to celebrate the accomplishments of this great and enduring school in a manner that will give due honor to all of those who have been part of her history. Seniors are an important part of this history, as they are members of the Class of 2005, Darlington’s Centennial Class.”
After a great deal of discussion and planning with school administrators and the Senior Leadership Committee, it was decided that the celebration would be threefold: a progressive dinner to be followed by a lock-in and a community service day.
Participating seniors will board buses and depart from Darlington at 5:30 p.m. to visit the homes of classmates Spencer Dismuke, Kyndall McKemie, Mary Kate Watters, William Richardson and Barton Lowrey for different courses of the meal.
After the progressive dinner, seniors will be taken to the Lower School gym for a celebration that will include a DJ and activities such as human foosball. At 3:30 a.m., the boys will be taken to the Upper School campus to sleep at the Old Gym. The girls will remain at the Lower School gym. In the morning, the boys will return to the Lower School for breakfast to be served by Lower School students.
To honor Darlington’s Centennial and the School’s commitment to wisdom, service and honor, the entire senior class will participate in a community service project with the South Rome Redevelopment Corporation from 9 a.m. to noon.
The dinner and lock-in are optional, but the service project is mandatory. All seniors not participating in the lock-in must meet the bus Friday, Feb. 4, at 8:30 a.m. in the Huffman Center parking lot to depart for the service project.
