10 Things You May Not Know About Darlington

We recently posted a status to Darlington's Facebook page asking our fans to share with us what they think are the greatest benefits of a Darlington education. Responses were immediate and ranged from college preparedness, to excellent teachers, to college scholarship opportunities, to the school's global atmosphere and the relationships that are built. Respondents included alumni from the 80s, 90s and 2010s as well as several parents (and we encourage you to visit our Facebook page and share your thoughts or post them below in the comments section of this blog!)
The fact is: Today's Darlington is preparing students for a lifetime of success, just as it has done for 109 years. Below are some interesting facts that illustrate the impact Darlington School has had on the lives of its most recent graduates.
1. 95% of Darlington alumni graduate from college on time or early – two years faster than the national average.
2. In the past five years, Darlington seniors have been awarded $34 million in college scholarships, not including HOPE.
3. The 123 members of the Class of 2013 were accepted to 177 different colleges and universities and attended 69 institutions in 22 states and Scotland.
4. In 2013, 172 Darlington students took a total of 386 AP Exams; 82% of the exams scored 3 or higher and 87% of students scored 3 or higher.
5. In 2013, 45% of the AP Scholars in Rome and Floyd County attended Darlington School. (This number represents 64 of the total 141 students who earned this designation.)
6. Collectively, the Class of 2013 gave 10,231 hours of service to their community, 3,400 of which occurred during their senior year.
7. Twelve members of the Class of 2013 earned athletic scholarships.
8. 90% of Darlington’s Upper School students are a member of at least one athletic team or fine arts group.
9. There are over 200 leadership opportunities at Darlington for students in grades 9-12.
10. Darlington’s student body represents 27 countries and 13 states.
