10 Things I've Learned at Darlington: Savannah

Teachers at Darlington aren’t like teachers at other schools. They really want to help you learn and are willing to put in the extra effort to help you reach your goals. (Shout out to Mrs. Cleveland for spending hours with her AP students going over our essays after school!)

You don’t have to do what everyone else does! You are your own person. Do what benefits you and makes you happiest.

There is a major difference between REPLY and REPLY ALL!

In my Global Issues class, we learn about global issues (shocker, I know!). Not only are we learning about the world’s problems, we are coming up with detailed plans to solve them. Plus, I learn French without taking the class, merci Monsieur Braun “Est-ce que je peux aller aux toilettes?”

I learned that once I step out of my comfort zone, that’s where the magic happens. The global studies route encouraged me to take a trip abroad that took me outside of the country by myself for the first time and meet a great group of friends and see a different perspective of the world from the eyes of the locals.

Take part of every activity you can! You only have four (or less) years of Darlington high school.  

The decisions you make today affect you tomorrow. Taking easy classes and getting 100 doesn’t help you get into college. A 92 in an AP class does because it shows you didn’t take the easy way out.

If you hang out with Mary Margaret during your free period, you can learn to rap Eminem.

The more you put into a class, the more you get out of it. Engage in class discussions and ask questions. You will learn more and you will show the teachers you care.
